St Thomas Athletics Track & Clubhouse

St. Thomas Estate in Tibradden, Dublin 16 is an 18th Century House, and Protected Structure.  OBFA Architects designed a new athletics running track and clubhouse as part of the estate, respecting the historic structure, and increasing public amenity of the Estate.

Landscaping was designed to increase tree coverage and density.  The entrance to the Estate was re-aligned and a new shared surface pedestrian and cycle route introduced into the new public realm.  Historic stone boundaries were upgraded along the boundary with adjacent lands, heightening the public amenity of the Estate along the Tibradden Road.

The design included a 400m running track, a multi-purpose indoor sports facility and enhanced public realm to include walking and cycling tracks within the Estate.  The sports facilities are along the South boundary of the Estate adjacent farm outbuildings alongside the Protected Structure St. Thomas House.  The site now has enhanced civic amenities in a densely landscaped walled estate adjacent the M50.
