Rafter’s Lane

Working with our clients Walkinstown Housing Association and Dublin City Council the scheme at Rafter’s Lane delivers 11 residential units specifically to meet the needs of the elderly. The site was previously derelict and restricted in scale and form by the proximity and overlooking of adjacent dwellings. The development responds to these issues to create a private internal common area and provides a positive addition to Rafters Lane and an enhancement to the wider community. The development fronts onto Rafters Lane with a pedestrian entrance providing access to the internal courtyard and access through to the existing adjoining housing development for the elderly at Lissadel Court. Circulation to the upper floor is provided by a generous sheltered gallery with fixed integrated seating at both ground and first floor creating an inviting social and secure amenity space for tenants. Internal finishes have been carefully selected to provide both a warm inviting environment but with contrasting finishes to aid the visually impaired. The development utilises renewable sources of energy through the use of photovoltaic panels and achieves a BER A3 energy rating.
