This project saw OBFA design and deliver 10 new homes as an extension of the Pattison Estate for Laois County Council in the village of Mountmellick, Co. Laois.
OBFA utilised the long linear site to form a natural extension to the existing Estate and amenities. The homes are A rated, keeping energy costs low for the residents. The generous rear gardens have pedestrian gates to facilitate movement of bins, bikes, and garden equipment, while forming a social boundary to the existing neighbourhood.
The project is highly energy efficient, achieving nZEB compliance. The design includes a high level of insulation and airtightness, air to water heat pumps, positive input ventilation systems, and ample natural daylighting. The wider design team included Roughan & O’Donovan (C&S), Varming Consulting Engineers (M&E), Austin Reddy (QS), and the scheme was built by Breencore Construction.
