Old Bones - Haulbowline, Co. Cork
As we start to peel back the weathered skin on this building, we have uncovered old bones - that speak to beautiful materials and skilled craftsmanship.
The incredible cast-iron frame with bespoke heavy timbers are built within a rubble stone envelope that was in turn built around a timber skeleton.

This will require care and attention from the construction team and an appropriate conservation approach. I'm very much looking forward to next year when we can bring a new lease of life to this fabric - leaving enough to see that 'tips the cap' to those who built this building in 1805....
Just a couple of images of where we are at, more to follow
