About – OBFA is an innovative architectural practice providing professional architectural and project management services throughout Ireland and the UK. We are a contemporary practice with an emphasis on design and sustainability. OBFA operate in a BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment for the efficient delivery of all projects.

Founding partners, Ciaran O’Brien and Ruairi Finucane, have worked together since 2003 and in 2013 established OBFA. The practice currently employs a number of architects, architectural technicians, an office manager and a BIM Co-ordinator.

The practice is a fully registered member of the RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects in Ireland) and is a private limited company holding full professional indemnity insurance.

Ciaran O’BrienB.Arch MRIAI

Architect & Director

A graduate of NUI Dublin, Ciaran has 21 years experience as a professional architect. Ciaran is a Registered Architect and Director of OBFA.

Ciaran’s key projects include multiple large scale design and build projects and public projects with an emphasis on sustainability. Currently Ciaran is involved in several social housing projects and pre-purchase due-diligence on behalf of institutional clients and NAMA.

Ciaran is a member of the RIAI Working Technical Groups for the implementation of the Building Control Amendment Regulations (2013).

Ruairi FinucaneB.Arch B.SC. Arch MRIAI

Architect, PSDP & Director

Ruairi is a Registered Architect and Director of OBFA. He has 11 years experience having worked in Melbourne and Dublin prior to establishing OBFA. Ruairi has broad experience in leading design teams and acting as lead architect on a wide variety of projects throughout Ireland and the UK, with expertise in the commercial, retail and healthcare sectors, both in new-build and re-fit.

Currently Ruairi is responsible for Design Quality and Health & Safety within the practice. Under Ruair’s direction OBFA are acting for HSE and commercial clients.

Ruairi is also a qualified Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) since 2009.
